Education Week Reflection

I am sure you all had a great time celebrating your learning last week. I wonder what interests you most of all.

I enjoy learning about different languages and cultures. It makes me feel happy when I can practise my skills in this area to speak French and Spanish, in particular. It also helps me to understand where people come from and how different people interact with each other in the many countries across the world. I would like to learn more about different art techniques because I enjoy looking at amazing artworks in galleries. I also enjoy learning dance routines.

2A are creative with Information Reports

2A have been learning about all the different community workers in Guildford that can help them. They have discovered all about the police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, builders and of course the people who work in a school. To be creative, 2A decided to present the information they know about their favourite community worker. They are still a work in progress but 3 students have completed theirs. This semester 34P have enjoyed using technology to help them learn new things in literacy. The blog has been a great place for the students to collaborate and take control of their own learning. The teachers are extremely proud of how they have developed their technology skills and how they are now using the blog as a stepping stone to other learning avenues. We can’t wait to see what they come up with in Semester 2.

Stage 3 Canberra Trip

What an amazing 3 days…..I wonder if some of these images bring back memories.

The history and memories shared at the Australian War Memorial. With amazing dioramas and artefacts which tell the untold stories. Walking into the tomb of the unknown soldier resonated with me in particular.

Seeing the smiles on children’s faces as they play and learn about snow for the first time.

As most of Stage 3 will be travelling to Canberra next week we would like to make sure you will be able to answer all of the questions that you will be asked during the trip. Even if you are not going it is important to learn about our government system and how our nation is run. You never know….you might even see the prime minister while you are there!

Can you use your safe internet skills to complete today’s challenge?
Miss Ali Khan tells me that you are learning about the difference between narrative writing and persuasive writing.
These are 2 reasons people write. We call them text purposes.
All good writers organise their ideas before writing them down. These days we can use webtools to help us do this. Check out my popplet about text purposes.

Look at how I have organised my ideas……however, it is not finished. This is where you come in.
