I am sure you all had a great time celebrating your learning last week. I wonder what interests you most of all.
I enjoy learning about different languages and cultures. It makes me feel happy when I can practise my skills in this area to speak French and Spanish, in particular. It also helps me to understand where people come from and how different people interact with each other in the many countries across the world. I would like to learn more about different art techniques because I enjoy looking at amazing artworks in galleries. I also enjoy learning dance routines.
What do you like to learn about?
What makes you happy when you learn?
Why do you like learning about this?
What would you like to learn more about?
What else do you enjoy learning?

2A have been learning about all the different community workers in Guildford that can help them. They have discovered all about the police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, builders and of course the people who work in a school. To be creative, 2A decided to present the information they know about their favourite community worker. They are still a work in progress but 3 students have completed theirs. Please have a look at what they have done.
When you have finished your blog post you need to read these questions and discuss with a partner.
What have you achieved?
What are you pleased with?
What will you be working on for next term?
What are you looking forward to?
The teachers will choose a few people to comment on this post so be prepared to answer if you are chosen.
Things you need to do today:
1) check the edited posts by clicking the comments, make changes and complete your post
2) check that you have saved your work using the appropriate ‘safe name’ on the Internet
3) create an avatar using a webtool called Doppelme. You should find the link on the sidebar.
This semester 34P have enjoyed using technology to help them learn new things in literacy. The blog has been a great place for the students to collaborate and take control of their own learning. The teachers are extremely proud of how they have developed their technology skills and how they are now using the blog as a stepping stone to other learning avenues. We can’t wait to see what they come up with in Semester 2.
Here are some Prezi’s That the students made in response to the previous post – 3/4 P Predicting Task
What an amazing 3 days…..I wonder if some of these images bring back memories.
What else do you remember?
What was your favourite part?
If you didn’t go what did you learn back at school?
What stuck with me?
The history and memories shared at the Australian War Memorial. With amazing dioramas and artefacts which tell the untold stories. Walking into the tomb of the unknown soldier resonated with me in particular.
Seeing the smiles on children’s faces as they play and learn about snow for the first time.
I look forward to seeing your entertaining and informative blog posts!
Today we will be linking our learning from the classroom through the blog.
Have you ever read The Twits by Roald Dahl?
Have you ever read any other books by this author?
Have you ever seen any movies that are based on his books?
WALT – communicate predictions using a presentation webtool – Prezi – (Find the link on the sidebar)
* navigate to the Prezi Website and follow instructions to set up a free account https://prezi.com/login/
* use the front cover, the blurb and your knowledge about the author to make at least 3 predictions about this text
* justify your predictions by giving reasons
* present your predictions in Prezi
TIB – Good readers make predictions using different parts of a text and can share and justify their thoughts and opinions creatively.
Remember to use your time wisely. You need to complete this task today.
Check out how students in 56T have organised their knowledge about the government in response to the previous post. I am impressed with how much they have learnt. I wonder what new information they will teach you.
As most of Stage 3 will be travelling to Canberra next week we would like to make sure you will be able to answer all of the questions that you will be asked during the trip. Even if you are not going it is important to learn about our government system and how our nation is run. You never know….you might even see the prime minister while you are there!
Your challenge today is to demonstrate what you know about:
* federal parliament.
Use bubblus or popplet to create an organised map of your understanding about this term’s topic. You will find links to these sites on the blog homepage.
Can you use your safe internet skills to complete today’s challenge?
Miss Ali Khan tells me that you are learning about the difference between narrative writing and persuasive writing.
These are 2 reasons people write. We call them text purposes.
All good writers organise their ideas before writing them down. These days we can use webtools to help us do this. Check out my popplet about text purposes.
Popplet is another webtool like bubblus – http://popplet.com/ Find the link on the blog sidebar.
Look at how I have organised my ideas……however, it is not finished. This is where you come in.
WALT – effectively use webtools to organise ideas
• access blog
• access webtool
• subject bubble
• 2 purpose bubbles
• include at least 3 vocabulary or grammatical features
• include at least 1 point about the structure of the text
• include at least 2 points that support the purpose
• save ideas
TIB: Good Writers organise their thoughts effectively using technology to support them.
Go to Bubblus and create a picture that describes what you have learnt this term.
Try to include as many things as possible that have stuck with you. Think about all subjects and places you learn new things at school. Don’t forget to save your bubble map using the snipping tool on the shared drive. Miss Ali Khan will choose 5 people to write their ideas in a comment.
Welcome to your first blogging challenge For 2015.
This is our ICT Discoveries blog where we will share all of our technology learning skills, tips and tricks.
Blogging is used all around the world for different purposes. Watch the video link about blogs in the Learning Posts page and then post a comment that gives at least 3 VIPs to demonstrate what you have learnt about blogs.
Remember to think carefully about your comment and ensure you follow the guidelines.
